Under the Constitution, the Executive of IAMSP are elected every two years and may not serve more than 2 consecutive terms in the same position. As a result, an election was called and nominations were opened. All members in good standing (for the past 1.5 years) were contacted and given the opportunity to put forward nominations. As a result of this process, eleven nomination submissions were received with only one candidate being put forward for President. Given the requirements under the Constitution, the need for the position to be filled, the lack of any second name--the position of President is passed to Mr David Stone by acclamation.
There is a period of transition until 01 May 2013 which will ensure a graceful handing over of responsibilities and files.
New positions under the President will be announced over the coming months. The Association wishes to express its thanks to those that have discharged their functions on the Executive over the past four years and looks forward to the new group that will be coming into those positions.
These elections demonstrate the Association's commitment to its membership and the transparency of its processes supporting that membershp. This also marks a major miletone in the life of the Association in its ability to demonstrate a level of sustainability even as leadership positions change over time.
Congratulations to those involved and we look forward to the next two years.
