Advice
Part of the responsibilities of the Association is to assist in the development of standards and other requirements for the Industry and the Association’s membership. This advice is based upon a consultative process that closely mirrors best practices put forth in the standards development industry.
General Advice – A Community
The first form of advice is informal in nature. This occurs between members as they are looking for informal advice on specific topics or general situations. This is based on blogs and similar kinds of technology.
Consultation on Key Issues
The second form of advice is part of the consultative process. This is accomplished by providing input into authoritative documents as part of the consultative process. For example, an authoritative body may publish a draft or edition for public comment. As an association, we discuss the elements within that document and provide credible feedback to those bodies.
Standards and Guidance on Practices
The third form involves Association standards. These are based upon clarifications of the Code of Practice and the other guiding elements of the Association in general. Acceptance of these kinds of standards are the results of membership votes.
