Consultation

General

As an association, we provide comments to various bodies that are rolling out laws, regulations, standards, and other similar kinds of requirements of those within the Association’s membership. Participating in the consultative process is limited to members (Student, Associate, and Full) as the Association’s comments reflect those of its membership.

 The Process

The consultative process involves the following:

  • the consultative document is received;
  • comments are solicited;
  • the membership is informed of the consultative period;
  • comments are collected from the membership;
  • comments are collated and vetted by the Executive;
  • the consultative package is drafted;
  • the package is posted for the membership’s information; and
  • the consultative package is sent to the body requesting comments.
  • To provide a comment during the consultative process, an individual provides the following information for each comment:

  • the specific paragraph that is being referred to;
  • the specific text being referred to;
  • the proposed change or comment;
  • the basis of the change or comment (i.e. the reason it is being made), including authoritative references in support of the comment (such as ISPS Part A 4.3, etc); and
  • the full legal name.
  • The Use of Legal Names

    Because consultations are made on documents that have a legal import, the use of usernames is not considered to be appropriate. This is because the comment must be clearly and uniquely attributable to a legal individual or entity that has either standing or that is participating as per a member with standing (note that in public consultation, the public has legal standing for comments).

    Current Projects

    At this point in time, the following consultations are underway (if you have others that should be considered, please contact the President):
