Projects
The Association undertakes projects from time to time in support of topics that apply across its membership. The conditions under which these projects are conducted and distributed throughout the membership are described within the IAMSP Constitution.
To participate in a project, contact the Project Chair. The Project Chair is endorsed by the executive and is tasked with coordinating
the efforts within the Association. The Project Chair will generally appoint a deputy and / or a secretary to help in this effort. Members working on the project respond to the requests of the Project Chair. It is important to note that while this is a voluntary effort on the part of its membership, it is a commitment of time and effort that should not be undertaken lightly.
Project Chairs should plan their work so that each member of the committee has not more than 2 hours of effort assumed per week. This is to help reduce the potential conflicts between members, their business or academic activities, and the needs of the project. For project members, please also understand the level of commitment associated with this number.
All work generated by the project becomes the property of the Association. Those that contributed to the project in a meaningful way are generally authorized to use the results of that work without compensating the Association. Those members within the Association who did not contribute to the work are expected to provide proper attribution of the work to the Association (and the Project Team) and will generally be requested to provide a one-time 01% fee (based on the value of the contract that the work was used for).
Projects provide a challenging environment where those who are seeking to establish themselves as leaders in the maritime security domain can demonstrate that leadership in a tangible way.
Our current projects include the following:
- International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers
- Maritime Index
- Technical Standards
If you wish to propose a project, please submit the idea to the President or Vice President for consideration at the next executive meeting.
