IAMSP does not subscribe to the belief or approach that an organization must be a full member of the Association to bring value to the maritime security industry. Our mission to build capacity across the maritime security sector often brings us into contact with organizations seeking to improve their performance. Our role in this capacity is to act as a neutral third party and provide assistance as they chart their course.

This assistance is tailored to the organization based on its operations, location, culture, and other factors. Once this is understood, the Association can offer services that range from basic consulting to formalized reviews of the company. Persons with significant education, knowledge, and experience deliver these services.

This process is divided into two major phases of activity that are refined to meet the organization's needs. They are the following:"

Administrative: beginning with an exchange of non-disclosure agreements. Once these have been received, we work with you to understand your needs and expectations. This phase concludes with an agreed-upon work plan.

Activity: This begins with the neutral third-party expert executing that plan. These plans leave some room for flexibility but guide the performance of the work. The goal here is to deliver the work in a manner than meets or exceeds your needs or expectations. .

The time taken for this work depends on the scope, complexity, and resources that can be brought to bear. Generally, a single organization at a single location dealing with one issue and that one expert is available to address is expected (but not necessarily guaranteed) to take between four (4) weeks to eight (8) weeks.
